A very good column.

Let’s take it a few steps further. It isn’t just about getting films in venues and on platforms but more importantly getting them seen.

I have had non-profit cinemas tell me that they are doing great since they got some major donors and have money in the bank. When I ask, “How many came to see “film xyz?” the answer too often admits to tiny audiences.

Realistically some films have little interest. But I believe too many are missing their potential.

Gosh, I hope these theater managers count attendance as a key metric of organizational health. I mean, that's the whole ballgame! Why be a movie theater if no one comes to watch the movies? I'm always interested in learning what the revenue mix of a cinema is: what % is earned vs contributed revenue, and which of those (or both) has the greatest potential for growth...

Great post, I received this post from third people who thought I would be interested…and they were right.

I do not want to spam here, but I would love to hear your opinion on my last Substack text, which I feel can participate in a dialogue with yours. Thanks!!

Thank you! It's a great read, and not SPAM at all. It offers a very helpful global perspective on what's happening in the US, which is an angle US-based media often ignores.
